Philip Hines
St. James Music Director Philip T. Hines Jr. He directs an eclectic music ministry which includes the 35-voice St. James Singers choir, with repertoire encompassing music from Palestrina to Manalo, cantors, soloists, and regular use of violin, flute, brass, tympani and cymbals. Phil does the tuning and service work on the church’s large 2200-pipe Pilcher/Webber organ, most of which dates to the late 19th century. He oversees the parish arts outreach program which regularly hosts choral concerts by groups such as the Louisville Chamber Choir and the choral ensembles of Bellarmine University. Other performances have featured the Louisville Trombone Ensemble, the Sacred Heart Madrigal Choir and solo recitals on the historic pipe organ. Additionally, he coordinates the annual Bardstown Road Aglow concert event at St. James Church.
Phil studied organ with Ba
