The St. Brigid and St. James Social Outreach Committee supports many of the programs of St. Vincent de Paul and Highland Community Ministries.
We provide volunteers from our parishes, and other resources to those they serve. The goal is to work with non-profit, civic or community organizations to improve the quality of life for our neighbors, thereby giving our parishes a footprint in the community.
Supplies Over Seas

SOS is a Louisville, Kentucky-based nonprofit organization that meets critical health care needs in medically impoverished communities locally, nationally, and globally, by collecting and distributing surplus medical supplies and equipment.
St. James and St. Brigid volunteers gather quarterly on Saturdays at the SOS warehouse, 1500 Arlington Avenue (off Spring Street, in Butchertown neighborhood), 9 AM – 12 noon, to help sort supplies to be sent to those in need. The staff at SOS provides instructions and no medical knowledge/training is necessary. All volunteers must be 15 years of age.
